About this board game

Peninsula is a challenging strategic flip-and-write game for 1–4 players, with a play time of about 40 minutes. In this map-drawing game, you create a fictional island while competing to design the most efficient peninsula.

Each round, you draft symbols and draw them on hexes adjacent to your architect token. At the same time, you offer symbols to your competitors, creating meaningful choices around what to take, what to provide, and when to move across your developing map.

The central challenge in Peninsula is that your architect limits where you can draw. You cannot place new symbols just anywhere; they must be added to hexes next to the architect token. This novel mechanism makes movement a crucial part of your strategy. Move too early or too late, and you may run out of available hexes for future symbols.

  • Flip-and-write gameplay: Draft symbols and draw them onto your personal map.
  • Architect movement: Position your architect to keep access to useful adjacent hexes.
  • Infrastructure: Build connections that help your architect move more efficiently and remain flexible.
  • Contracts and patterns: Create drawn patterns that fulfill contracts and earn victory points.

As the game develops, your map becomes a puzzle of movement, infrastructure, symbols, and opportunities. Draw features that increase your victory points, complete contracts along the way, and shape your peninsula to please its monarch.

When the last symbol card has been drafted, the winner is determined by the points awarded for the most efficient peninsula. With its restricted drawing area and shared symbol choices, Peninsula rewards careful planning, adaptable positioning, and well-timed decisions from the first draft to the final map.
