About this board game
Pepinillo is a party game for 2–30 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. Players build a chain of syllables that must continue without stopping, while hand gestures add changing challenges to each round.
At the start of a game, three gesture cards are placed on the table. These are selected from a set of 15 cards, each showing a different hand gesture. A separate card displays words from categories such as food, objects, and countries.
Each round, players choose a word and take turns saying one syllable of it. When saying a syllable, a player can also make one of the three gestures in play. The gestures affect how the chain continues: a player may need to repeat a syllable, use a syllable with another vowel, change the direction of play, or follow another indicated challenge.
- Players: 2–30
- Playing time: approximately 15 minutes
- Gesture cards: 15 in total, with 3 used in each game
- Word categories: including food, objects, and countries
The round ends when a player makes a mistake while saying their syllable. That player takes one of the 12 unused gesture cards as a penalty. Each penalty card shows between one and three pickles, so mistakes can add different numbers of pickles to a player’s total.
Keep the syllable chain going, watch the gestures, and avoid collecting too many pickles. In Pepinillo, the player with the fewest pickles at the end of the game is the winner.
