About this board game

Pick Two! is a fast, challenging crossword game for 2–6 players, with a typical play time of 30 minutes. First released in 1991, it has players build their own personal crossword from letter tiles while racing to use every tile they hold.

Each player begins by drawing letter tiles and arranging them into words. Whenever a player uses all their letters, they call out “pick two!” Everyone, including the player who called it, draws two more tiles. Those new letters must then be added to each player’s crossword.

The central twist is that your crossword is never fixed. You can rearrange letters and even whole words whenever you need to make room for newly drawn tiles. This keeps the game moving and makes every fresh pair of letters a new challenge.

  • Build a personal crossword using letter tiles.
  • Call “pick two!” when you use all your letters.
  • Draw two more tiles and add them to your crossword.
  • Rearrange letters and words to keep your layout working.

As the center pile gets smaller, the race becomes a test of speed, word-building, and flexible thinking. Players must continually adapt their crossword instead of simply waiting for the perfect letters.

When the center pile of tiles is gone, the first player done wins. With its simultaneous play and constantly changing word layouts, Pick Two! offers an engaging challenge for groups of two to six.
