About this board game

Pirate King! is a push-your-luck deck-building game for 2–5 players that plays in about 15 minutes. Across seven rounds, rival captains compete to collect resources, acquire powerful cards, and earn the most victory points.

Each player begins by choosing a unique captain and an initial deck. Captain abilities can aid your journey, while market cards and monster cards are placed at the center of the table, ready to shape the contest.

Players reveal cards from their decks simultaneously, one at a time. After each reveal, you must decide whether to keep risking your gains or stop before fortune turns against you. The deeper you go, the more resources you may collect—but greed can cost you everything.

Watch carefully for the dreaded curses. Revealing three skulls makes you explode, causing you to lose all the resources gathered during that round and fall to last position. Careful decisions and well-timed stops are essential to turning luck into lasting progress.

After the seventh round, the player with the most victory points is crowned the one and only Pirate King. Released in 2025, this fast contest asks whether you can master your ambition before the curses claim your haul.
