Pirates of Maracaibo: New Figureheads is a 2023 release promo for Pirates of Maracaibo, adding two figureheads for 1–4 players with a listed play time of 100 minutes.
This small promotional addition gives your ship two new options: the Dolphin and the Hydra. Each figurehead provides a distinct ability that can shape how you handle valuable pearls, card costs, exploration, and raiding.
- Dolphin: Each time you gain a pearl, you may bury it immediately.
- Hydra: Pay 1 fewer doubloon for every gained Improvement or Residence card.
- Hydra exploration bonus: During each Explore action, you may move 1 extra space.
- Hydra raiding bonus: During each Raiding Action, gain 1 extra Raiding Power.
The Dolphin focuses on the timing of pearl gains, allowing each newly acquired pearl to be buried at once. The Hydra provides several benefits across different actions, combining a doubloon discount with increased movement during exploration and additional power while raiding.
Pirates of Maracaibo: New Figureheads was available during Spiel23 at the DLP booth and was offered free when the game was purchased at Spiel23. These two figureheads add focused alternatives to your ship while keeping the expansion concise and easy to integrate.
