About this board game

Platformer is a light, competitive miniature board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Players climb through a changing, multi-level map, gather rewards, battle monsters, and race their friends toward the top.

Every game creates a new map from cards, so the layout changes from one play session to the next. The map contains many levels, but only one level is visible from the start, adding discovery to the race upward.

At the heart of Platformer is its simple gravity mechanic. During your turn, you climb up the platforms, but when your turn ends, you fall until you reach a platform or a ladder. Planning your movement means considering both how far you can rise and where gravity will leave you.

Your available actions are determined by dice. After rolling, you see which moves you can make, and each die may be rerolled once if its result does not suit your plans. Possible actions include:

• Jumping or moving one space
• Collecting gold coins and points
• Moving or attacking monsters
• Gathering items

The race combines smart decisions with a little luck. You may need to use your dice carefully, respond to the changing position of your opponents, and find the best way to keep climbing after your turn ends.
