Posthuman: Defiant Expansion is a post-apocalyptic board game for 1–6 players, with sessions lasting around 180 minutes. It presents a world where nature is reclaiming the planet and evolved offspring are working to eradicate the last human survivors.

Players take the role of humans on a solitary journey toward a promised safe house. The route crosses ten tile-based zones, generated randomly to create each journey. As the survivors travel, they encounter one another, other humans, and dangerous posthuman mutants.

Encounters with mutants can inflict scars. These scars represent a steady loss of humanity: the more scars a player has, the less human they become and the more posthuman they are. This gives every encounter with a mutant an important place in the struggle to survive.

The Defiant Expansion introduces the option of playing Posthuman with five or six players, extending the player range beyond the original experience. It also adds new types of armour and home-made weapons to the post-apocalyptic setting.

Released in 2015, Posthuman: Defiant Expansion combines exploration, encounters, and the escalating consequences of mutant attacks. Whether the journey leads to safety or further transformation, every scar marks the changing distance between survivor and posthuman.
