About this board game

Pulitzer is a strategic board game for 1–5 players, with games lasting around 120 minutes, set among American investigative journalists during the turbulent early 1970s.

Take charge of a newspaper team covering an era defined by the Vietnam War, the Pentagon Papers, and the Watergate Case. You must protect your publication’s prestige and sales while committing enough resources to complete the investigation that could win the Pulitzer and secure your place in journalistic history.

The game unfolds over eight rounds, each divided into Placement and Resolution. During Placement, assign your journalists face down across the board. Their destinations can help you publish exclusives, take on work outside the newspaper, document developments, or investigate directly in the field.

Once everyone has placed their journalists, the simultaneous Resolution phase begins. Reveal the journalists to show their values, then determine who prevails in each area. At the same time, gather the evidence needed to advance your report on your personal investigation board, with every new discovery bringing you closer to the coveted award.

At the end of the eighth round, only newspapers that meet the Pulitzer committee’s minimum requirements can take part in final scoring. The newspaper with the highest combined score across its Reportage, Prestige, and Reach claims the prize.

Pulitzer also includes an advanced mode for 1 or 2 players, along with several game modes designed to adapt the experience to different groups.
