About this board game
Ragusa is a 2019 board game for 1–5 players with an approximately 80-minute play time, focused on building the legendary 15th-century city now known as Dubrovnik.
Players place houses on the spaces between three hexes. Each house acts like a worker, but its position can trigger three surrounding spots at once, granting access to resources in the countryside or actions within the city.
Use the resources you collect to construct buildings, trade with the East, and craft valuable commodities. The value of these commodities changes as ships come and go from the harbor, creating an evolving opportunity for trade.
- Place houses to activate three connected spots at a time.
- Gather rural resources and use city actions.
- Build an engine through construction, trade, and commodity crafting.
- Reactivate other players’ houses by building near them.
Ragusa’s worker placement system develops into a deep engine-building puzzle. Your building choices can use the houses you have already placed in the countryside, while building near another player’s house can reactivate it and give that player valuable opportunities outside their own turn.
The game ends when every player has placed all of their houses. Points come from all available sources, and the player with the highest total wins after helping shape the city, strengthen its trade, and seek their fortune.
