About this expansion

Rattus: Judge Promo Card is a promotional card for 2–4 players, released in 2010 for games lasting about 45 minutes. It introduces the Judge, a special card that lets its holder move one cube to safety while taking another cube back into their own stock.

During the cardholder’s turn, the Judge may be used at any time. The player moves one of their cubes on the board to the palace area and then takes one of their cubes back into their own stock. The two cubes involved do not need to come from the same place.

In particular, the cube returned to the player’s stock may be taken from a region containing rats or from a rat-free region. This flexibility is an important part of the official Judge rules and gives the card a clear role in managing cubes during the game.

  • Move one of your cubes to the palace area.
  • Take one of your cubes back into your own stock.
  • The returned cube may come from a region with rats or without rats.
  • Cubes in the palace are safe for the rest of the game.
  • Palace cubes count as regular cubes when scoring at the end of the game.

The Judge was released in October 2010. It was available through issue #34 of PLATO Magazine and at the Essen 2010 Show with the purchase of the Pied Piper expansion at the White Goblin Games booth 5-01 in Hall 5.

With its combination of palace protection and cube recovery, Rattus: Judge Promo Card adds a focused official rules option for players who want to use this special card in their game.
