About this board game

Retrograde is a real-time roll-and-write game for 1–4 players, with a play time of about 35 minutes. Inspired by classic 80s arcade games, it challenges players to blast invading Astrodroids and pursue the high score.

Each round, roll your dice as fast as possible and race to match the combinations shown on the target cards. Claim the card you want before another player takes it, but beware: if you are the last player without a card, you have only two more rerolls before you must keep your result.

• Roll quickly to match target-card combinations.
• Spend dice to put Astrodroids on your sheet out of commission.
• Collect Coins and power-ups based on the card you choose.

Your choices help shape your score and your progress on the sheet. Blast entire columns of Astrodroids to destroy bosses for bonus points, while blasting rows unlocks the power-ups you have collected.

The real-time pace keeps every round tense as players compete for desirable cards and race to use their dice effectively. With its arcade-inspired theme, dice-driven action, and roll-and-write format, Retrograde turns the fight against the Evil Astrodroids into a fast race for points.

Retrograde was released in 2023 and received the Best Family Game award at BostonFIG Fest in 2022.
