About this board game

Rick and Morty: The Ricks Must Be Crazy Multiverse Game is an engine-building game for 2–4 players that takes about 45 minutes to play. Set in the four locations from the episode “The Ricks Must Be Crazy,” it challenges players to build power supplies and contraptions while moving through a strange multiverse.

The game features four locations, or “verses”: the Rickverse, Microverse, Miniverse, and Teenyverse. Due to time dilation and other pseudo-scientific malarkey, traveling lower through the verses gives you more actions each round. However, the lower verses are more primitive, so the contraptions built there may not work as effectively.

  • Build power supplies and contraptions during your turn.
  • Move between verses to take advantage of excess power.
  • Use passing power to play one-shot abilities and activate character abilities.
  • Power up your contraptions as energy travels from verse to verse.

At the end of each round, power generates in the bottom verse and moves upward. As it travels, players can use that power for abilities, characters, and contraptions. This creates a distinctive timing system in which the position of your components and your place in the turn order both matter.

Player order matters within each verse, because opponents may use available power before it reaches you. In Rick and Morty: The Ricks Must Be Crazy Multiverse Game, choosing when to move, what to build, and where to operate can determine how much power you are able to use.
