Riff Raff

About this board game

Riff Raff is a dexterity game for 2–4 players, with play time of about 30 minutes, in which players load wooden cargo onto a swaying ship.

Each player has the same set of objects and a hand of cards numbered 1–10. Players secretly choose a card and reveal their choices simultaneously. On a turn, the player places any piece they want onto the numbered space they selected.

The ship’s cargo is placed on its body and on three yardarms extending from the mast. As the load becomes unbalanced, the wooden ship can sway to and fro, sending one or more objects falling from its deck and yardarms.

• Place bottles, sailors, rats, and other wooden cargo.
• Choose numbered spaces using cards from 1 to 10.
• Catch pieces that fall when the ship tips.
• Be the first player to get rid of every object in your set.

If cargo falls, players may save pieces by catching them. Anything that is not caught is added to the objects that player still needs to get rid of, making every unstable load an important moment.

Riff Raff combines simultaneous card selection with physical balance and quick reactions. The first player to successfully get rid of all their objects wins the game.
