About this board game

Rise of the Zombies! is a fast-paced cooperative-style zombie survival card game for 1–8 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Players race against a real-world timer to escape from a Safe House and reach a Rescue Helicopter.

During the shared Survivor Turn, there are no individual player turns. Players can discard and draw until their hands match their Hand Sizes, then openly declare their actions, the cards they are playing, and the zombies they are attacking before rolling dice.

Location cards create the route through the game, forming a path from safety to rescue. Most cards have more than one possible use, allowing players to decide how best to support the group and keep their escape moving. Survivors in the same Location can also trade weapons and items with one another.

• Build a route from the Safe House to the Rescue Helicopter.
• Use cards for multiple functions and perform as many actions as your cards support.
• Attack zombies by declaring your target and rolling dice.
• Trade weapons and items with other Survivors at your Location.
• Race against a real-world timer before time runs out.

Once the Survivors have resolved their actions, the zombies attack. If the timer expires, the Survivors left behind die, so every decision is made under pressure.

Rise of the Zombies! leaves the group’s approach open. You do not gain anything from having other Survivors die, but spending too much time helping others may put your own survival at risk. Work together, take your chances, or leave someone behind—the choice is yours.
