About this board game
Rivals is a battle royale deck-building game for 2–6 players, with games lasting around 120 minutes. You play an Ashak, the chosen representative of a clan fighting for survival in the WildTech, a hybrid arena where the map itself is constantly changing.
Each round, players have two action points to move, collect resources, play cards, and interact with sponsors. The 43-tile WildTech offers opportunities to gather materials, improve your deck, and confront opposing Ashaks. At the end of each round, parts of the map are destroyed, forcing players to reveal affected areas and adapt before they fall into the void.
- Crystal and resin: Craft shields, remove cards from your deck, or buy victory points.
- Interface tiles: Add new cards and optimize your deck.
- Anticipation: Recover additional defense dice during attacks.
- Changing terrain: Features such as forests can provide extra defensive advantages.
Combat combines tactical card play with dice-based defense. Attackers spend their action points on offensive cards, considering each card’s cost, range, damage, and special effects. Physical and mental damage cards can be combined with utility cards to strengthen an attack.
When attacked, a player normally receives two defense dice, with the possibility of gaining up to six during an attack phase. To win, be the last survivor or collect five victory points by defeating opponents or purchasing points with gathered resources.
Set in the year 3221, Rivals places humanity’s clans across a galaxy connected by hyperspeed. The Network has chosen one champion from each clan to compete in the WildTech, where every decision may determine what survives beyond the void.
