About this board game

Rogue State is a solitaire geopolitical conflict simulation for one player, designed for approximately 120 minutes. You take the role of the Supreme Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea immediately after the Korean War and guide the regime from 1953 through 2030.

Your primary objective is survival. Your secondary objective is to maximize adherence to the Juche ideology by building national self-reliance and global influence. Each turn represents approximately seven years, making every decision part of a long-term effort to strengthen the state.

Manage a scarce state budget while deciding how to develop heavy production, infrastructure, agriculture, and military strength. Build industrial capacity, maintain diplomatic relations with national allies, and respond assertively to events while limiting lingering foreign debt. Your choices help determine how many Juche points you earn.

The simulation also places you in charge of internal security and high-stakes international risks. Intimidate and purge Cabinet members to motivate performance and discourage sedition, while managing threats including revolutions, coups, and foreign military action. You can negotiate for foreign technology to advance a nuclear weapons program, threaten imperialist enemies, and, if necessary, order a preemptive nuclear strike on the West and its allies.
