About this board game

Romolo o Remo? is a strategy board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 150 minutes, set in Central Italy in 753 B.C. Players take the roles of kings founding new cities in Latium, competing to control a prosperous region between the Etruscan cities of the North and the Greek colonies of the South.

The twins Romolo and Remo, descendants of Enea of Troy, are rivals seeking dominance near the Tiber River. They face competition from the kings of Antemnae and Crustumerium, as each player works to establish the strongest settlement and claim control of the region.

Managing a growing kingdom is at the heart of the game. Citizens carry out many different actions, while territory control determines where players can act—unless they go to war. A larger population allows more actions, but every citizen must also be fed.

  • Develop a growing city and manage its population.
  • Use money, resources, and trade to expand your possibilities.
  • Construct city buildings and employ specialized characters.
  • Deploy soldiers and mercenaries, and declare war when conflict calls.

The region’s valuable salt ponds add to the stakes, since salt is worth more than gold in this era. As kingdoms expand and rival powers clash, military decisions can change the course of the game at any moment.

In Romolo o Remo?, players compete not only to build a powerful city, but also to become the founder of a new civilization—or perhaps even an empire.
