Runes: The Game is a tile-placement and strategy game for 2 to 5 players, with rounds lasting about 40 minutes. In this 2025 game, brave Vikings discover an ancient black box filled with mystical rune stones, powerful rituals, and shiny coins.

Players place rune stones beside one another, aiming to match as many rune symbols as possible. The more symbols that match, the more coins may be placed on the connected stones. A golden rune stone can double the number of coins, while forming a line or a circle allows additional coins to be added.

Black ritual stones bring an unpredictable twist to every game. Whenever you place one, you draw a ritual card. These rituals can be played at any time, even when it is not your turn, giving you opportunities to strengthen your position or push your opponents toward game madness.

Winning requires more than simply matching symbols. You must choose the right placements, time your rituals wisely, and rely on a little luck as the board develops. The first player to place all their coins on the rune stones becomes the Master of the Runes.
