About this board game
Rush Out! is an asymmetric, simultaneous dice-rolling game for 3–5 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Two to four heroes race to escape a dark dungeon while one sorcerer uses spells, hazards, and clever timing to stop them.
Each team rolls and rerolls dice to cover the symbols on cards. Heroes roll three dice per hero, while the sorcerer rolls five. Players may place dice on only one card at a time, and no more than two heroes can work on the same ordeal card, creating a frantic contest where every completed card matters.
When all symbols on a card are covered, its effect is resolved and a new card is drawn. The first team to draw the final card in its deck wins. The heroes must keep progressing, while the sorcerer disrupts their plans by removing dice, damaging characters, and restricting the symbols they can use.
- Dragons: Dracology spells move a dragon pawn onto the heroes’ cards. Heroes cannot remove the blocked card, but wild symbols can push the dragon back.
- Experience: Heroes can gain experience and make their rolled wild symbols more effective.
- Healing: Damaged heroes must heal before attempting ordeal cards, sometimes with help from their friends.
- Progressive learning: Training games introduce the rules step by step before the scenarios add new cards and challenges.
Each scenario is played as a best-of-three series, and the game includes a half-dozen scenarios beyond its training games. With everyone playing at once, Rush Out! delivers a tense race between desperate cooperation and relentless spellcasting.
