About this board game

Ryozen is a 2–4 player worker-placement game with an approximately 90-minute play time, set in a fantasy kingdom of mystical forces and extraordinary animals.

It is a decisive time in the kingdom of Ryozen. Your clan has gathered its most skilled kin to perform important tasks, earn honors, and prove that it is the most capable of doing good for the kingdom before the Phoenix Queen awakens in her mountaintop palace.

The game’s layered, rotating board is divided into sectors, each offering different possible actions and a limited number of available placements. The palace can be rotated to gain special benefits from nearby lands, creating opportunities that can change as play develops. For two players, the board can be flipped for a dedicated setup.

• Worker placement: Secure valuable spaces for your kin to gather or manage resources.
• Asymmetrical allies: Recruit additional characters with distinct abilities.
• Strategic development: Collect cards, build multiple scoring and resource engines, and improve your plans.
• Interactive competition: Influence the tie-breaker while watching your rivals’ choices.

Ryozen keeps its turn flow moving from the beginning. During the day phase, placements produce immediate effects, while global effects are resolved sector by sector during the night. This creates both direct and indirect interaction as players compete for the best positions and opportunities.

With a rotating board, shifting placement options, and several paths toward prestige, every clan must seize the right moments. Gather your kin, manage your resources, recruit allies, and strive to earn the Phoenix Queen’s favor.
