About this board game

Shear Panic is a sheep-maneuvering game for 2–4 players, lasting about 45 minutes. Guide your flock through changing scoring fields as you try to stay together, approach Roger the Heartthrob Ram, and avoid the shearer.

Players have twelve actions available during the game, placing a mutton button over each action as it is used. Stronger actions move the timing marker farther through the game’s four fields, while every player’s visible mat reveals which moves remain available to opponents.

The timing marker determines how the flock scores. Each field rewards a different position:

  • Team Tag: score more by keeping your sheep closer together.
  • Roger’s Field: score more for moving closer to Roger.
  • Black Sheep Tag: score more for staying close to the black sheep.
  • Shear Panic Field: the row nearest the shearer is eliminated each turn, while the remaining sheep score individually.

When the timing marker lands on a red spot, the active player gets a free lamb slam. Roll the Panic Die to move a sheep of the indicated color one space in any direction; a white result makes the entire flock turn 90 degrees in a direction chosen by the active player.

The game includes eleven sheep-related figurines, four colored player mats, a two-sided timing and scoring mat for three or four players, mutton buttons, scoring markers, a flock marker, and two special six-sided dice. With its mix of positioning, timing, and changing objectives, Shear Panic turns every move into a contest for the safest and most profitable place in the flock.
