About this board game

Space Station Phoenix is a worker-placement and resource management board game for 2–4 players, with an approximately 120-minute play time. Set in one of Earth’s possible futures, it puts players in the roles of Galactic Council representatives sent to build space stations and observe—or perhaps interact with—humanity.

Each player begins with nine ships and a station hub. Those ships serve as action spaces, letting players gather resources, explore nearby planets, and construct their stations. Turns are designed to be fast and straightforward: take a ship action or take income.

Space Station Phoenix offers an unusual approach to building an economic engine. Rather than starting with limited production and expanding it over time, players begin with the best production engine they will ever have. From there, they break it down part by part.

As the game progresses, actions become more efficient, but the number of ways to take those actions begins to diminish. This creates a distinctive tension between improving efficiency and losing available options as the station develops.
