About this expansion
Sprawlopolis: Construction Zones is a 20-minute city-planning board game for 1-4 players, released in 2018. Construction has begun in Sprawlopolis, adding an unwelcome complication to the task of shaping the city.
This expansion introduces a four-card construction irritation. At the start of scoring, one requirement and scoring card is chosen at random and becomes part of the game. The other three cards are placed into the deck, keeping the construction challenge connected to the flow of play.
Construction blocks create a clear additional concern during city planning. They must be completed by being built over before the game ends. Any blocks that remain incomplete then incur scoring penalties, making unfinished construction a problem that can affect your final result.
- For 1-4 players
- Approximately 20 minutes of play time
- One random requirement and scoring card is used for scoring
- Three remaining cards go into the deck
- Uncompleted construction blocks cause end-game penalties
With its focused construction-zone wrinkle, Sprawlopolis: Construction Zones adds pressure to the city-planning process without losing sight of the central challenge. Players must account for the construction blocks, work to build over them, and consider the consequences if they remain unfinished.
For players who enjoy compact city-planning decisions and evolving scoring requirements, Sprawlopolis: Construction Zones offers a distinctive source of disruption. The random scoring card and the threat of penalties make construction an important part of planning through to the final score.
