About this board game

Stawka większa niż życie is a 1–2 player board game lasting about 90 minutes, set in Poland occupied by German forces during World War II.

Inspired by the popular black-and-white television series produced by TVP in 1967, the game places players on opposing sides of a dangerous conflict. One player leads members of the Polish resistance and attempts to complete missions against the occupying forces. The other player commands German agents and tries to stop those actions.

Each player controls up to four agents. During a turn, a player selects a card that determines which agent acts first and how many action points are available. These points can be spent moving across the map or taking special actions, including searching for items and looking for evidence of illegal activity.

• Use action points to move agents and perform special actions.
• Search for items and evidence, or attempt to uncover secret information through conversations with enemy agents.
• German agents can attempt arrests, while Polish agents can attempt to assassinate Gestapo officers.
• Play cards for special effects or to disrupt the opposing player’s actions.

Successful actions earn Victory Points, but each scenario also introduces its own conditions for winning. These may require finding specific items or carrying out particular activities. If the scenario objectives are not achieved, the players compare the Victory Points they have gathered.
