Stratego Legends is a strategy game for 2–8 players with an approximate play time of 60 minutes, combining familiar Stratego gameplay with pieces that each possess special powers.

In this expanded take on the classic formula, pieces are defined by more than their ranks. Some can fly or teleport, while others perform better in particular environments, such as marshes or mountains. Certain pieces also carry powerful death curses that continue affecting the battle after they are defeated.

The game features a universe of more than 200 different pieces, each with its own special function. Every box includes a light army and a dark army, with the pieces selected to work well together straight out of the box.

Stratego Legends is an optionally collectible game, offering rules for customizing armies and the lands where they fight. These options let players specialize their attack force and shape battles around different combinations of pieces and terrain.

For larger groups, the game supports multiplayer battles in which 4, 6, or 8 players face off as two teams. Released in 1999, Stratego Legends gives the recognizable Stratego framework a broader system of powers, environments, customization, and team play.
