About this expansion

Sword & Sorcery: Ancient Chronicles – Chaotic Familiars is an expansion for 1–5 players, with a play time of about 90 minutes, adding five mystical creatures to Sword & Sorcery adventures.

These intelligent little beings can form a magical link with their humanoid friends. Each familiar offers valuable battlefield assistance or grants its owner a distinctive ability, creating new possibilities during quests and campaigns.

The ancient scrolls of the Archmagi classify the familiars into three types, each defined by the bond it shares with its owner:

  • Domestic: Cat and Crow
  • Wild: Bat
  • Legendary: Drakeling and Imp

Every creature has its own peculiar contribution. An Imp possesses the life-drinking ability, while a Drakeling is known for its poisonous spittle. Together, these familiars bring unusual powers and helpful companions to the battlefield.

However, the bond is a double-edged sword. If a familiar dies, its owner suffers a terrible mental shock that hampers their skills for a time. Protecting these companions can therefore be just as important as using their special abilities.

Adding the expansion is simple: shuffle the Familiar cards into the Treasure deck. Chaotic Familiars can be used with any Sword & Sorcery Quest or Campaign from either Immortal Souls or Ancient Chronicles, making it a flexible addition for existing adventures.

With its blend of magical assistance, distinctive creature types, and meaningful consequences, Sword & Sorcery: Ancient Chronicles – Chaotic Familiars gives heroes new allies to discover and new dangers to consider.
