Tales & Games: Jack & the Beanstalk

About this board game

Jack & the Beanstalk is a game for 2–5 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Players climb the Magic Beanstalk toward the Giant’s castle, competing to bring back as many sacks of gold as possible.

On your turn, choose how many dice you will roll. Then stack the dice to make the Magic Beanstalk grow, building toward the castle and the Giant’s treasure. Each turn presents a simple choice as you decide the number of dice to use before adding to the stack.

• Choose the number of dice to roll.
• Stack the dice to grow the Magic Beanstalk.
• Bring back sacks of gold from the Giant’s castle.
• Watch for a fallen stack, which lets other players steal sacks of gold.

The Beanstalk can be knocked over while it is being built. When that happens, the other players have the opportunity to steal the Giant’s sacks of gold, making the growing stack central to the race for treasure.

At the end of the game, the player with the most gold wins. With its storybook setting, dice stacking, and direct competition for treasure, Jack & the Beanstalk turns a familiar tale into a compact tabletop contest.
