About this expansion

Tannhäuser: Hoax is a single-figure expansion for the squad-based tactical board game Tannhäuser, supporting 2–10 players in a game lasting about 60 minutes.

Caitlin “Hoax” Lamsbury enters the battlefield in a stealth suit forged from mysterious alien technology. Her Joshua T1 suit lets her fade from sight, confuse her enemies, and infiltrate even heavily secured locations before launching an ambush from the shadows.

Hoax brings a distinctive approach to the alternate-timeline conflict of Tannhäuser. In this setting, World War I has never ended: the Reich has embraced occult forces, while the Union has explored alien technology and created deadly weapons of war. Movement and positioning are handled through the game’s revolutionary Path-Finding System, designed to make play quick and easy to learn.

The expansion includes several tools for representing Hoax’s elusive presence on the board:

• Four Hoax miniatures, including one painted figure showing her fading from sight
• Three translucent miniatures used to track her movement while she is invisible
• A rulebook explaining the rules for invisibility
• Equipment tokens and bonus tokens
• A custom scenario built around a deadly game of hide-and-seek

While Hoax is camouflaged, her translucent figures can move in opposite directions, forcing opponents to question which one represents the real operative. This creates a tense battle of misdirection as players try to keep their eyes on the battlefield and anticipate her next strike.

With its unusual miniatures, stealth mechanics, and dedicated scenario, Tannhäuser: Hoax adds a ghostlike infiltrator to the game’s occult-and-alien warfare setting.
