Tasso

About this board game

Tasso is an abstract board game for 2–6 players with a play time of 30 minutes. Also published as Lakota, it challenges players to place all of their sticks on the game board before anyone else.

At the beginning of the game, each player starts with the same number of sticks. On a turn, a player lays one of their sticks either on the game board or on sticks that are already present.

The placement rules create an important opportunity for additional moves. Whenever a player lays a stick on two sticks already laid on the board, that player immediately takes another turn.

This extra-turn rule gives every placement significance. Players are not simply adding sticks to the board; they are also looking for placements that can lead to another move while working toward placing their entire supply.

First released in 2004, Tasso is a concise abstract game built around sticks, board positioning, and the timing of extra turns. Whether played with two players or a larger group of up to six, the goal remains the same: be the first to place every stick.
