About this board game

Terramara is a board game for 2–4 players that takes about 120 minutes, set among the villages of Northern Italy around 1500 B.C. Each player becomes the chief of a clan living in a Terramara village during the mid- to late Bronze Age.

In this setting, people live, travel, and trade between the Alps mountain range and the river Po. Their world is shaped by hunting, farming, and metallurgy, including the casting of bronze tools such as axe heads in stone molds. The villages themselves are built on piles, with houses raised above the ground on wooden stakes.

Your goal in Terramara is to develop your clan and become the leader of all Terramara. Explore lands farther away, trade with other villages, and reach sacred places as you expand your clan’s achievements.

  • Improve your clan’s battle strength.
  • Discover new technologies.
  • Create useful artefacts.
  • Gain development points through your clan’s progress.

Every clan seeks to make the greatest mark on this Bronze Age world. By combining exploration, trade, technological discovery, and growing strength, you work toward a higher level of development.

The player who develops the best clan and gains the most development points wins the game, taking the title of leader of all Terramara. With its distinctive historical setting and focus on clan development, Terramara presents a journey through the communities, occupations, and ambitions of Bronze Age Northern Italy.
