About this board game

The Adventurers: The Temple of Chac is a fast-paced adventure game for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. Players race through the ruins of a Mayan temple dedicated to Chac, the rain god, trying to escape with as much treasure as they dare carry.

The temple is packed with danger. Adventurers begin among crushing walls before following a winding passage past a lava pit, locked alcoves, and treasure-filled rooms. Along the way, they must decide whether to pause for valuable treasure or keep moving ahead of the massive boulder tumbling down the passage behind them.

Risk and timing are central to the experience. Treasure cards can reduce the number of actions available during a round, making a tempting haul increasingly difficult to carry. Two possible shortcuts offer different dangers: a fast river and a rickety wooden bridge. If the boulder catches up, an adventurer may be crushed or forced into the river, where drowning is another threat. Should the boulder reach the exit first, the remaining adventurers are trapped forever.

  • Fast, light dice-rolling gameplay with plenty of lucky breaks
  • Treasure-card draws that tempt players to take greater risks
  • A deadly temple featuring crushing walls, lava, a river, a bridge, and a pursuing boulder
  • 12 small, detailed plastic miniatures
  • A second character can enter if an adventurer is killed

The Adventurers: The Temple of Chac combines simple luck with meaningful decisions about when to push forward and when to make a dangerous grab for more treasure. Its exotic setting, striking production, and Indiana-Jones-style escapes create plenty of thrills, especially for younger players, while repeated plays may feel lighter for adults.
