The Castles of Burgundy: Special Edition is a tabletop strategy game for 1–4 players, with an approximate play time of 120 minutes. Set in the Burgundy region of High Medieval France, it places each player in the role of an aristocrat guiding a small princedom.

Throughout the game, players develop their domains by taking settlement tiles from the game board and placing them into their princedom. That princedom is represented by a Duchy board placed in the player board, creating a personal space for building and developing a growing settlement.

Players seek to create a prosperous domain in several ways. They can build powerful castles, practice trade along the river, exploit silver mines, and make use of the knowledge of travelers. The result is a richly themed experience focused on shaping and expanding a medieval princedom.

This edition brings the classic design back through a collaboration between Ravensburger and Awaken Realms. Its complete art and layout redesign aims to make every piece visually appealing while improving in-game usability, and premium materials provide a high-end feel designed for lasting play.
