About this expansion

The Duke: Arthurian Legends Expansion is a two-player expansion for The Duke that brings Arthurian mythology to the game in a session of about 30 minutes. It preserves the core objective: capture the opponent’s Duke tile.

With this expansion, the original Duke tiles are replaced by the opposing characters of Arthur and Mordred. The expansion also introduces seven mythical figures drawn from Arthurian legends and stories, along with a new terrain tile representing Camelot and a Fort.

The Arthurian tiles replace specific tiles from the core game. Arthur takes the place of the Light Stained Duke, while Merlin, Lancelot, Guinevere, and Perceval replace the Light Stained Wizard, Champion, Duchess, and Assassin. Morgana replaces the Dark Stained Duke, and Mordred replaces the Dark Stained Duchess.

These replacements modify the starting tile set and create asymmetrical opposing forces. The expansion’s rulebook also includes one alternate scenario that uses the Arthurian tiles together with the Camelot tile.

In that scenario, players receive special advantages whenever their Arthurian tiles are moved into or out of Camelot while it is on the board. For fans of The Duke, this expansion adds a distinct Arthurian setting while retaining the game’s central contest over the opposing Duke tile.
