About this expansion

The Duke: Robin Hood Expansion is a 2013 expansion for two players, designed for games lasting about 30 minutes. It adds literary flair to The Duke while replacing the core game’s Duke tiles with characters from the Robin Hood universe.

The expansion introduces seven characters: Robin Hood, Little John, Maid Marion, Friar Tuck, Prince John, the Sheriff, and Sir Guy. It also modifies the starting tile set, creating asymmetrical opposing forces for the two players.

  • Robin Hood replaces the Light Stained Duke.
  • Little John replaces the Light Stained Assassin.
  • Maid Marion replaces the Light Stained Ranger.
  • Friar Tuck replaces the Light Stained Pikeman.
  • Prince John replaces the Dark Stained Duke.
  • The Sheriff replaces the Dark Stained Champion.
  • Sir Guy replaces the Dark Stained Duchess.

The included rulebook provides an alternate playing scenario using the expansion tiles. This scenario changes the game’s winning conditions and gives each side a specific capture objective.

To win, the Prince John player must capture Robin Hood. The Robin Hood player must capture Prince John, the Sheriff, and Sir Guy when all of them are in play. If fewer of those characters are present, Robin Hood must capture every one that is in play, which may mean capturing only Prince John as the starting tile.

With its character replacements, distinctive opposing forces, and revised victory conditions, The Duke: Robin Hood Expansion offers a focused alternate way to play the core game.
