The Great Wall: Black Powder

About this expansion

The Great Wall: Black Powder is a 2021 expansion for 1–4 players with an approximately 180-minute play time, adding new ways to strengthen your defenses and customize your strategy.

Players can construct towers between Wall Sections and place powerful war machines on them. Choose between cannons, rocket batteries, and siege crossbows, then use upgrade cards to shape their abilities and costs. One player might favor inexpensive cannons, while another may focus on a single exceptionally powerful machine.

The Mongol forces gain additional threats through new Horde types and siege engines. Battering rams can break your walls, catapults can strike your archers, and siege towers change how you plan your defense. Miners also work to counteract your towers, creating further pressure as you prepare for each assault.

• War machines: Build towers and deploy cannons, rocket batteries, or siege crossbows.
• New Horde threats: Defend against battering rams, catapults, siege towers, and miners.
• Elite soldiers: Upgrade basic troop types into powerful clan-specific warriors.
• Expanded customization: Use new Generals, Advisors, Artifacts, and Tech-Trees.

Each Clan receives its own unique elite Soldier. The Snake Clan can upgrade Archers into Chu-Ko-Nu Crossbowmen, while the Dragon Clan can equip Spearmen with fire-lances. Recruiting these costly units early can provide a major advantage against the Hordes and rival players.

New Tech-Trees let you invest in towers, war machines, or enhanced army units. With its expanded selection of Hordes, upgrades, and leaders, The Great Wall: Black Powder offers more replayability and new tactical possibilities for every Clan.
