The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-Earth – Spreading War Expansion is a campaign expansion for 1–5 players, with an approximate play time of 120 minutes. Released in 2021, it takes players into the kingdoms of Gondor and Rohan as war spreads across the realm of Men.

Spreading War unlocks an all-new campaign consisting of fifteen scenarios. Across this journey, players travel between Gondor and Rohan while attempting to defend both kingdoms from invading enemy forces. The campaign carries the threat of violence from the tangled depths of Fangorn Forest to the haunted ruins of Osgiliath.

Ruthless mercenaries have entered the kingdoms under the orders of a mysterious figure. With shadows growing throughout the land, each scenario forms part of a broader struggle to quell the spreading conflict before it becomes too great.

The expansion adds a substantial collection of new content to the Journeys in Middle-Earth experience, including:

• Six new heroes
• Twenty-one enemy miniatures
• Eighteen double-sided journey map tiles
• New roles and new terrain types

These additions expand the campaign’s journeys through the proud kingdoms of Men, offering new locations, enemies, and possibilities for adventure. The double-sided map tiles help represent the changing paths across Middle-earth, while the new heroes, roles, and terrain types broaden the available campaign content.
