About this expansion

The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Dread Realm is a 2015 scenario for 1–2 players, with an approximate play time of 90 minutes. It challenges heroes to make a final push through the fortress of Carn Dûm and prevent an ancient evil from returning to the world.

For months, the heroes have traveled with the Rangers of the North, fighting beside them to protect the realm from a growing threat. Their journey has brought them to the source of the North kingdom’s greatest evils, where a small army of Elves and the remaining Dúnedain have helped them fight through the fortress’s outer guard.

Now the battle moves into the darkened halls and catacombs of Carn Dûm. The quiet corridors may seem cold and empty, but they conceal terrible sorcery and the lingering forces of Angmar. In this Lord of the Rings: The Card Game scenario, survival depends on battling through a fortress steeped in ancient darkness.

  • Continue the campaign’s struggle against the threat gathering in Angmar.
  • Explore the eerie halls and catacombs of Carn Dûm.
  • Face wraiths, witches, and other evils empowered by dark magic.
  • Beware fallen fellowship members who may be reanimated after death.

The dead do not lie quiet in Angmar, and every confrontation can bring a new horror. With the fate of the North kingdom at stake, the heroes must endure the fortress’s supernatural dangers and complete their final advance before the ancient evil is unleashed.
