About this board game
The Lost Valley: The Siege of Diên Biên Phù is a solitaire dice- and card-driven board wargame for 1 player, with an approximate play time of 120 minutes. Set during the 1954 Battle of Diên Biên Phù, it places you in command of the besieged French garrison as Colonel Christian de La Croix de Castries.
The French have established an air and land base deep in enemy territory, hoping to draw the Viet Minh into a decisive battle. Instead, the garrison is encircled, outnumbered, and outgunned by five Viet Minh divisions under General Võ Nguyên Giáp.
To survive, you must make careful decisions about supplies and resources while using your elite units and coordinating air, armor, and artillery assets. Keeping the garrison’s morale high is equally important as adverse events and relentless Viet Minh assaults test your ability to hold the position.
The battle’s outcome carries significance beyond the battlefield. Your resistance may have a favorable and decisive impact on the 1954 Geneva Conference peace talks, connecting every defensive decision to the wider historical stakes of the conflict.
