About this expansion

The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire – Mexico is a 2017 promotional card for The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire, a 2–5 player game with a 120-minute play time.

Whoever chooses to play Mexico at the start receives an immediate resource package: 3 oil, 1 plastic, and 1 steel. This gives the player a defined combination of materials from the beginning and makes the card’s opening effect easy to understand.

Mexico also changes the cost of advancement on the United Nations track. To move up 1 space, the player must give up 1 oil and 1 plastic, creating a distinct trade-off between the resources gained at the start and the cost of pursuing progress through the United Nations track.

  • Promotional card for The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire
  • Starting bonus of 3 oil, 1 plastic, and 1 steel
  • Each 1-space move up the United Nations track costs 1 oil and 1 plastic

Originally intended for retailers, this card was also made available as a stretch reward for Kickstarter backers of Manhattan Project 2: Minutes to Midnight. Its focused effect adds a specific resource and United Nations track condition to the player who selects it.

For players looking to use the Mexico card in The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire, its key decision is straightforward: take the immediate supply of oil, plastic, and steel, then account for the additional oil and plastic required whenever advancing on the United Nations track.
