About this board game

The Powerpuff Girls: Villains at Large Game is a 30-minute game for 2–4 players, released in 2000, in which players use girl cards to steal control and capture villains for points.

Each card represents a Powerpuff girl and has a value. From your hand, play a specific girl card to attempt to steal that girl from another player. That player can respond by playing cards to stop the attempt, making every challenge a contest of timing and available cards.

Once you obtain a girl, you can use cards from any girl you own to defeat one of the three villains currently showing. Defeating villains earns points, but the game places an important restriction on when your controlled girls can be used to attack.

  • You cannot attack a villain with girls you controlled at the start of your turn.
  • You must obtain a girl during your turn before using girls to attack a villain.
  • The game continues until all villains have been captured.

This rule encourages players to deplete their hands before pursuing points. You must first create an opportunity to gain control of another girl, then turn that gain into a villain capture while opponents try to interfere.

With its mix of stealing, defensive card play, and villain attacks, The Powerpuff Girls: Villains at Large Game turns control of the girls into the key to scoring. The final capture ends the game, giving each short session a clear finish.
