About this board game
The Twelve Doctors: Doctor Who Card Game is a two-player card game played in about 30 minutes, pitting the Doctor against the Master for the fate of the galaxy. Each player commands a balanced 60-card deck in an asymmetrical struggle filled with combat, disruption, and difficult decisions.
The Doctor draws on companions and equipment from across his regenerations, including Rose Tyler, Romana, Adric, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, the Sonic Screwdriver, K-9, jelly babies, and the Hand of Omega. The Master deploys temporal marauders and dangerous devices, with threats such as Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, Zygons, Omega, Sutekh, the Rani, the Laser Screwdriver, and the Tissue Compression Eliminator.
Play unfolds across a three-column time-line system representing the battle for Gallifrey, Earth present and future, and Earth past. Every card features power, cost, and disrupt values, while each deck contains different abilities. Players must manage their cards carefully as companions are exterminated, marauders are destroyed, and the decks themselves measure the time left in the conflict.
- The Master can atomise Telos, Metebelis III, and Skaro, gaining short-term benefits with lasting consequences.
- The Doctor can use the Journal of Impossible Things, though doing so makes victory easier for the Master.
- Victory can come through deck exhaustion, planetary destruction, regeneration, disruption, or special objectives involving Wirrn and Lucy Saxon.
With its quick, bloodthirsty battles and wide roster of Doctor Who characters, The Twelve Doctors offers a tense duel where every card play can change the balance of power. The expansion also adds the Key to Time as an alternative victory condition.
