About this expansion

Thunderstone: Heart of Doom is a deck-building expansion for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Released in 2011, it brings the struggle introduced in Thunderstone to an epic climax.

This expansion adds seven heroes, thirteen village cards, five monster groups, one treasure set, three settings, three guardians, and one thunderstone. It introduces no new rules or mechanisms, but its many distinctive card abilities can significantly alter familiar deck-building strategies.

Several additions create new tactical possibilities. The Village Cutpurse, Gem Treasures, and Highland Captain let players obtain heroes and items while in the dungeon. Dryads add additional ranks to the dungeon, while Doppelganger monsters imitate villagers and mercenaries—with potentially deadly results.

  • New heroes and village cards to reshape your deck-building plans
  • New monster groups, including Dryads, Doppelgangers, and Lizardfolk
  • New treasures and equipment, including the Bag of Holding, Chalice Mace, and Jondul Bow
  • Three settings and three guardians for varied challenges

Heart of Doom also offers a climactic final battle. With the Rite of Banishing setting, players face the incredibly powerful Heart of Doom guardian in a desperate attempt to seal the rift and save the world.

With its expanded card pool, unusual dungeon threats, and dramatic endgame challenge, Thunderstone: Heart of Doom gives experienced players new ways to build their forces and confront the dangers beyond the village.
