About this board game

Time’s Up! Edición Azul is a charades-based party game for 4–12 players, with a typical play time of 45 minutes. Players form teams, ideally with two members each, and compete to identify famous historical or fictional characters.

Before the game begins, everyone looks through several character cards and chooses some to play. The selected cards are shuffled into a single deck, which returns in each of the game’s three rounds. In every round, teammates take turns giving clues while trying to help their team guess as many names as possible in 30 seconds.

  • Round 1: Almost any kind of clue is allowed, but the cluegiver cannot pass on a card.
  • Round 2: Each clue may use no more than one word, although unlimited sounds and gestures are allowed. The cluegiver may pass, while teammates may give only one answer.
  • Round 3: Words are forbidden, so clues must be delivered through gestures and other silent actions. Passing is allowed as often as desired, and teammates again get only one guess.

The repeated deck makes early clues especially important. A clear physical clue in the first round can become a valuable reminder when the same character returns and communication becomes much more restricted.

With its changing clue restrictions and short 30-second turns, Time’s Up! Edición Azul builds from open-ended descriptions to one-word hints and finally energetic silent performances. It is designed for lively team play, quick guesses, and increasingly expressive gestures as the clock runs down.
