About this expansion

Tiny Epic Dinosaurs: Laboratory Mini Expansion adds research-driven rewards to the 1–4 player game, which has a play time of about 60 minutes. It gives players another strategic consideration as they place Ranchers on Action Mats.

During setup and at the beginning of each round, Lab Tokens are randomly placed above each Action Mat. Whenever a player places a Rancher on an Action Mat containing a Lab Token, they must follow the corresponding research path on their Laboratory Mat. The Lab Token is then discarded.

Research paths can lead to immediate rewards, including:

• Extra dinosaurs
• Resources
• Research cards

When a player reaches a reward on their Laboratory Mat, they receive it immediately. Their Microscope Token then returns to the center of the Laboratory Mat, ready for the next research path.

The Laboratory Mini Expansion encourages players to connect their action choices with the research paths they want to pursue. A Rancher placement is no longer only about its immediate action; when a Lab Token is available, it can also advance research and unlock a useful bonus.

Finding the right synergy between available actions and desired research rewards can help players accomplish more with fewer actions. This added layer of planning makes each placement more meaningful while creating new opportunities to move ahead of the competition.
