About this board game
Tiwanaku is a deduction and exploration board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Lead your tribe into unknown territory, discovering lands to cultivate while honoring Pachamama, Mother Earth.
Each scenario presents a unique arrangement of terrain tiles and crop tiles. Explore the board and draw outlines to reveal regions, then use logic, intuition, and risk-taking to determine which crops belong where. Terrain regions contain between one and five spaces, while crop values range from 1 to 5.
The landscape rewards diversity and complementarity. A region’s size determines the crop values it contains, and identical crop values cannot be adjacent, even diagonally. These patterns create a spatial puzzle in which every discovery can provide information about the surrounding territory.
- Explore: Reveal new terrain and develop the growing landscape.
- Divine: Use deduction and intuition to uncover crop information.
- Offer: Hand in one to five offering cubes for up to 10 points, while holding at most one offering of each color.
When the final terrain tile is placed, the endgame begins. Players continue taking a single divine action or passing, with successful actions bringing points and offering cubes, while failed actions can cost points and force a player to stop.
After everyone has passed, players make one final offering and compare their scores. With its combination of hidden information, spatial deduction, timing, and meaningful risk, Tiwanaku challenges players to understand nature’s principles before deciding when to act.
