About this expansion

Tokaido: Crossroads & Matsuri is a 2025 expansion for 1–5 players, with a playing time of approximately 45 minutes. It combines the original two Tokaido expansions and most promotional content in one box.

Crossroads adds more treasures to the journey, giving faithful travelers new discoveries along the path. Cherry trees in full bloom, luxurious bathhouses, good luck charms, calligraphy, legendary objects, and clandestine gambling rooms all become part of the trip.

Matsuri brings festivals to the road. These events are triggered when Travelers arrive at intermediate Inns, enlivening the path with unique occurrences and adding another layer to the Tokaido experience.

The expansion increases the complexity of the core game while keeping its additional content together in a single box. All components fit into the core Tokaido box, making storage straightforward for players who want to gather the journey’s extra content in one place.

With its combination of festivals, new Travelers, special destinations, and unusual discoveries, Tokaido: Crossroads & Matsuri offers a broader version of the journey. It is designed for groups of one to five players and brings together a substantial collection of additions for returning travelers.
