Transformers Deck-Building Game: A Rising Darkness is a standalone expansion for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Become a mighty Decepticon and race to defeat the Autobots in a new way to experience the Transformers Deck-Building Game.

A Rising Darkness can be played on its own, while also remaining compatible with the core game. Its central focus is the Decepticons, giving players the opportunity to take their side as they confront the Autobots and explore a Matrix of cards filled with allies and enemies.

The expansion offers two primary modes of play. In Competitive mode, Decepticons squabble among themselves while facing the Autobots. In Cooperative mode, the Decepticons join forces, working together to defeat their common enemy.
