About this board game
Ubongo Extreme is a 2007 board game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of about 30 minutes. It is a more difficult sequel to Ubongo, preserving the original game’s simultaneous tile-placement challenge while introducing uncommon hexagonal tiles.
Each player receives a player mat and works to fill the requested shape using their tiles. Everyone plays at the same time, creating a direct race to find a solution as quickly as possible.
The central challenge is simple to understand but difficult to master: arrange the available pieces so they completely fit the shape shown on the mat. The new hexagonal forms make this version notably more demanding than its predecessor.
- Simultaneous play for 2–4 players
- Player mats with requested shapes to complete
- Uncommon hexagonal tiles
- A higher difficulty level than the original Ubongo
That combination makes Ubongo Extreme an engaging test of speed and spatial problem-solving. Players must work quickly while dealing with shapes that are less familiar than those in the original game.
As a sequel, Ubongo Extreme builds on the successful formula of Ubongo rather than changing its core appeal. Its focus on rapid, hands-on puzzle solving makes each round a tense simultaneous race, and the challenge can prove highly absorbing for fans of the original.
Ubongo Extreme also expands the Ubongo line through the listed Ubongo Extrem: Craxy Expansion. For players looking for the original game’s format at a higher level of difficulty, this version offers a focused and fascinating tile-fitting challenge.
