Ubongo Trigo

About this board game

Ubongo Trigo is a fast-paced spatial puzzle game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 20 minutes. Players race to combine triangular shapes and recreate two images shown only as silhouettes.

Each player has seven differently colored shapes, and every shape is made from a unique combination of triangles. In each round, players take a puzzle board that challenges them to use four shapes—or six shapes on the tougher side—to complete two images.

The silhouettes show the finished designs without revealing how the pieces fit together. Players must work out which shapes to use, which sides should face up, and which direction each piece needs to point. The result is a hands-on test of visual reasoning, spatial awareness, and speed.

As soon as one player solves both images, that player starts counting down from 20 seconds—or 30 seconds when using the tough side. Any player who fails to finish before the countdown reaches zero gives their card to the player who started the countdown as a point.

Players who complete their puzzles in time, including the first player, keep their own boards for points. After eight rounds, the player with the most points wins. With its combination of colorful pieces, deceptively challenging silhouettes, and a pressure-filled countdown, Ubongo Trigo turns triangle-fitting into an exciting race.
