About this board game
Verräter is a board game for 3–4 players, played in about 60 minutes, in which the Rose and Eagle factions struggle for control of land districts.
Although it masquerades as a card game, Verräter revolves around a changing conflict on the board. In each turn, players try to change the allegiance of one land district by contributing power cards to swing the contest toward their favored faction.
Players also choose roles that provide special abilities for the current turn. These roles include the Diplomat, the Builder, and the especially dangerous Verräter, or Traitor.
- Compete for districts aligned with the Rose or the Eagle.
- Contribute power cards to influence each district conflict.
- Choose roles such as Diplomat, Traitor, and Builder.
- Score points through district victories, selected roles, and counting-houses.
The Traitor can be devastating because this role allows a player to change allegiances just as the conflict begins. That sudden shift can reshape the outcome of a district at the most critical moment, making role selection an important part of every turn.
Points are awarded for winning over land districts, taking certain roles, and building counting-houses. With faction loyalties, power cards, and role choices all contributing to the struggle, Verräter presents a compact contest of changing allegiances and carefully timed decisions.
